Sepang: XMUM students welcomed the new February degree intakes in a two-day orientation last weekend as celebration for a new life in campus.

A series of fun activities were held throughout the weekend including a campus tour, a bonding session and an academic briefing.

A total of 168 students participated in the orientation day, including international students from different countries like Japan and Indonesia.

On Saturday evening, the students gathered in B1 for their first ice breaking session with the facilitators in their own respective groups.

According to Sandra, an electrical and electronics engineering major from Kenya, said that the orientation was interesting and fun.

“The people are very friendly,” she commented, “But I slept at 4am last night because of the different time zone, so I feel tired.”

When asked about the reason for her to enroll in XMUM, she said an agent recommended it to her. “I have seen XMUM facilities in Youtube videos. They have a lot of scholarships available.”

Winnie, the head of game masters said she enjoyed leading the activities despite it was her first time doing so.

“The activities went well, but we had some delay on the first day of orientation because of the lack of efficiency in time management,” she said, “But I think we did a good job handling the orientation day even without the help from degree students.”

In a sharing session, a local student named Xin Yi talked about how she chose the university because of the “campus life”.

“XMUM has good facilities,” she added, “I want to study in a better environment.”

A closing ceremony was held in the indoor badminton court at 7pm on Sunday night with a series of exciting performances including a diabolo and a dance performance conducted by the student facilitators themselves.

Registration for the new students was held on the morning of 22nd February, Friday.
